For the Last Week of the Church Year (November 24-29, 2025)

Invocation: In the Name of the Father and of the (+) Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Speak the Apostles’ Creed.

Verse: Zechariah 9:9b – “Behold, your king is coming to you; righteous and having salvation.”

Hymn of the Week:  Lutheran Service Book #332 “Savior of the Nations, Come”

Hymns for Sunday: 334, 357 (v. 1), 332, 637, 343, 517 (v. 5), 336

Readings for the Week: [The readings for Thursday-Saturday are the Scriptures for this coming Sunday.]

Monday: Psalm 122

What makes the psalmist glad? Why? Does this make you glad? Why? What happens there? Why is this good for us?

Tuesday: Jeremiah 23:5-8

Who is the “righteous branch” God will raise up? What will He do? How will He do it? What has He delivered us from?

Wednesday: Matthew 24:36–44

How is the day of Jesus’ return like the days of Noah? Is it good not to know the day? Why? How can we be always ready?

Thursday: Isaiah 2:1–5

When are the “latter days?” What will happen then?  Where is the “mountain of the Lord” and His peace and light for us today?

Friday: Romans 13:8–14

How is love the fulfilling of the Law? How did Jesus do this for us? Why do we owe love to our neighbor? How can we best love them?

Saturday: Matthew 21:1–11

How did Jesus enter Jerusalem? How did the people welcome Him? Why the difference? What kind of king is Jesus?

The Catechism - Confession: What do you believe according to these words? I believe that when the called ministers of Christ deal with us by His divine command, in particular when they exclude openly unrepentant sinners from the Christian congregation and absolve those who repent of their sins and want to do better, this is just as valid and certain, even in heaven, as if Christ our dear Lord dealt with us Himself.

Collect for the Week: Stir up Your power, O Lord, and come, that by Your protection we may be rescued from the threatening perils of our sins and saved by Your mighty deliverance; for You live and reign with the Father and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

The Prayers:  Please pray for . . .

+ yourself and for all in need (remembering especially those on our prayer list).

+ God’s blessing, wisdom, guidance, and strength for Pastor Douthwaite.

+ the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Argentina, for God’s wisdom, blessing, guidance, and provision.

+ God’s blessing, guidance, and provision for the Higher Things youth organization.

Conclude with the Lord’s Prayer and Luther’s Morning or Evening Prayer from the Catechism.

Now joyfully go about your day (or to bed) in good cheer, child of God!
