For the Week of Pentecost 10 (August 3-8, 2026)

Invocation: In the Name of the Father and of the (+) Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Monday: Psalm 18:1-16

What eight things does the psalmist call God in vs. 1-2? What does this cause him to do? How is the Lord this for us as well? Where do we see that most clearly?

Tuesday: Genesis 4:1-15

What is more shocking: Cain’s anger and murder, or God’s mercy toward Cain? How is this a foreshadowing of God’s mercy to us in Christ Jesus?

Wednesday: 1 Corinthians 15:1-10

What is of “first importance” to Paul? Why without this is Christianity nothing? But with it, what do we have?

Thursday: Job 38:4-18

Why did Job question the ways of the Lord? Why do we? What was God’s answer here? Why should we also keep this in mind?

Friday: Romans 10:5-17

Can the Law give us life? On what condition? How does faith give us life? How is this unconditional? Where does faith come from?

Saturday: Matthew 14:22-33

How did Peter go from fear to faith to fear to faith? Why? Does this ever happen to you? Why? What is the solution?

The Catechism - The Lord’s Prayer: The Second Petition [part 2]: How does God’s kingdom come? God’s kingdom comes when out heavenly Father gives us His Holy Spirit, so that by His grace we believe His holy Word and lead godly lives here in time and there in eternity.

Collect for the Week: Almighty and most merciful God, preserve us from all harm and danger that we, being ready in both body and soul, may cheerfully accomplish what You want done; through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord. Amen.
