The Congregation at Prayer

For the Week of Pentecost 12 (August 17-22, 2026)

Invocation: In the Name of the Father and of the (+) Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Speak the Apostles’ Creed. 

Verse: Romans 12:1b – “Present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.”

Monday: Psalm 138

In the midst of which “gods” do we sing our praise to the one, true God? Why? Why are all other gods weak and foolish?

Tuesday: 2 Corinthians 3:4-11

How is the Gospel greater than the Law? Both are the Word of God! But which is more glorious? Why?

Wednesday: Mark 7:31-37

What do you need Jesus to open in your life? What has been closed off to Him? To others? How does He touch you today to make it so?

Thursday: Isaiah 51:1-6

Where did God do for Abraham? Can He do the same for you? What does He do for you that is even greater than for Abraham?

Friday: Romans 11:33 - 12:8

How do we know the mind of God? How does this transform us? How does this help us think less of ourselves and more of others?

Saturday: Matthew 16:13-20

Revelation, confession, forgiveness. How do those three always go together? Why?

The Catechism - The Lord’s Prayer: The Third Petition [part 2]: How is God’s will done? God’s will is done when He breaks and hinders every evil plan and purpose of the devil, the world, and our sinful nature, which do not want us to hallow God’s name or let His kingdom come; and when He strengthens and keeps us firm in His Word and faith until we die. This is His good and gracious will.

Collect for the Week: Almighty God, whom to know is everlasting life, grant us to know Your Son, Jesus, to be the way, the truth, and the life that we may boldly confess Him to be the Christ and steadfastly walk in the way that leads to life eternal; through the same Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
