The Congregation at Prayer

For the Week of Pentecost 11 (August 10-15, 2026)

Invocation: In the Name of the Father and of the (+) Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

How is Jesus the fulfillment of this psalm? 

Tuesday: Luke 18:9-14

What happens to those who trust in themselves? Why do they do so? How do they act? What is their end? What is the better way? Why is this hard?

Wednesday: Luke 1:39–55

Commemoration of Mary, Mother of Our Lord. God used Mary to do His great work? How might God use you to do so also?

Thursday: Isaiah 56:1, 5-6

Where was God’s house of prayer in the Old Testament? What (or Who!) is it in the New Testament? Who can come to Him? What promise does God make here for all people?

Friday: Romans 11:1-32

How are Jews and Gentiles different? How are they the same? How did God save all people? Does God love all people? How do we know?

Saturday: Matthew 15:21-28

What does this woman call Jesus? How does this show her faith? Even though Jesus doesn’t seem to want to help her, to what does she cling? How is this a good example for us today?

The Catechism - The Lord’s Prayer: The Third Petition [part 1]: Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. What does this mean? The good and gracious will of God is done even without our prayer, but we pray in this petition that it may be done among us also.

Collect for the Week: Almighty and everlasting Father, You give Your children many blessings even though we are undeserving. In every trial and temptation grant us steadfast confidence in Your loving-kindness and mercy; through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord. Amen.
